งานประกาศรางวัลออสการ์ครั้งที่ 97 จัดขึ้นที่โรงละครดอลบี้ (Dolby Theatre) ในลอสแอนเจลิส เมื่อวันจันทร์ที่ 3 มีนาคม 2025 เวลา 7:00 น. (ตามเวลาประเทศไทย) โดยรวบรวมบุคคลสำคัญจากวงการบันเทิงทั่วโลก เพื่อมอบรางวัลให้แก่ภาพยนตร์และบุคคลที่มีผลงานยอดเยี่ยมในปีที่ผ่านมา โดยมี Conan O’Brien ผู้ดำเนินรายการตลกชื่อดังเป็นพิธีกรหลักในปีนี้ การประกาศรางวัลสะท้อนถึงการเติบโตของภาพยนตร์จากผู้ผลิตอิสระที่สามารถคว้ารางวัลจากสตูดิโอใหญ่ ๆ ที่เน้นผลิตภาพยนตร์แฟรนไชส์ รวมถึงการแสดงความเคารพต่อแฟรนไชส์ James Bond ที่ได้รับการซื้อกิจการจาก Amazon MGM และการสนับสนุนโรงภาพยนตร์อิสระ
ในปีนี้, ภาพยนตร์ Anora ซึ่งเป็นแนวดราม่า-คอมเมดี้เกี่ยวกับหญิงโสเภณีที่แต่งงานกับลูกชายของมหาเศรษฐีรัสเซีย คว้ารางวัลใหญ่ถึง 5 รางวัล รวมถึงภาพยนตร์ยอดเยี่ยม โดยเซียน เบเกอร์ ผู้กำกับและผู้ผลิตภาพยนตร์ได้รับรางวัล 4 รางวัลจากการผลิต กำกับ และเขียนบทภาพยนตร์ ทำให้เขากลายเป็นผู้กำกับคนแรกที่ได้รับออสการ์ 4 รางวัลจากภาพยนตร์เรื่องเดียว ขณะเดียวกัน Adrien Brody และ Mikey Madison คว้ารางวัลนักแสดงยอดเยี่ยมจาก The Brutalist และ Anora ตามลำดับ ขณะที่ Zoe Saldaña และ Kieran Culkin คว้ารางวัลนักแสดงสมทบหญิงและชายยอดเยี่ยม การประกาศรางวัลในครั้งนี้ยังสะท้อนถึงการเปลี่ยนแปลงในอุตสาหกรรมภาพยนตร์ในปัจจุบัน
